150 years of Eckelmann - 150 years of port, logistics, environment
The Ewerführer Cordt Eckelmann laid the foundation stone for the family business, now in its sixth generation. As a shipowner and charterer, he built up a customer base with a few barges, which his son Carl Johann Lorenz Eckelmann continuously expanded. After 1900, the third generation under Carl Robert and Cäsar Eckelmann expanded the company by land transport. After the Second World War, the fourth generation under Curt Eckelmann included tank cleaning for ships and tank wagons as well as tank cleaning. With oil recycling, the company made its mark as the first maritime disposal and recycling company in Hamburg. To date, there have also been pioneering innovations in barge construction and port handling. In the mid-1970s, Robert M. Eckelmann, the fifth generation, deepened and expanded the environmental protection division. His visions gave new impulses in the diversification of the range of offers and put the "Carl Robert Eckelmann GmbH" on an economically consolidated foundation. Innovation and versatility are today's trademark of "Carl Robert Eckelmann GmbH" in logistics, cleaning, disposal and repair - but the barge, the nucleus, is still an integral part of the family company.
